Against the backdrop of Zion National Park, musician Hal Savar chants, “Divestar rock star is all I’ll ever be / Just a prisoner to my dreams / I’m not gonna write sad songs no more / I ain’t gonna write bad songs no more / I just want to show you who I am.”
The Las Vegas-based singer and songwriter landed at Zennest on the evening of June 29th to kick off his “Highway to Hal” docuseries. We were excited to host Hal and continue the ZENNEST LIVE series with another outstanding musician.
Hal’s been performing at casino lounges, dive bars, and everything in between for the last 15 years. But when the pandemic delivered a significant blow to his gig line-up, he decided to pivot to a road tour. Hal is now traveling the country in an RV with his manager and family, recording the experience as part of a creative docuseries. Hal’s personal transformation journey includes meeting with inspiring people, exploring one-of-a-kind venues around the United States, focusing on wellness and family, and performing his own music.
Hal’s almost two-hour Zennest performance was filled with storytelling, original songs, and acoustic guitar pulling from blues, country, and rock-n-roll influences. Hal’s energy and rugged warmth are the perfect expressions of summer in Southern Utah, mingling good vibes and a laid-back tempo with sunshine, billowing white clouds, red rock sandstone cliffs, and sprawling national park forests.
